200 walkers hit the trail for the Umbrella Walk

Storm Amy behaved to allow the Rotary Club of Langholm’s annual mega-fundraiser to take place

Thanks to all who participated in the 2025 Rotary Club of Langholm Umbrella Walk last Saturday. In contrast to the summery conditions of 2024, this year the walk took place hot on the heels of Storm Amy, which battered Langholm and Canonbie with winds gusting to 65mph and a swift inch of rain, just a few hours before the walk was due to begin!

A blocked storm drain resulted in a cataract of water and debris coming down part of the Langholm walk. It was thankfully cleared through actions of a resident up at the top and a Rotarian calling out BEAR Scotland. They took several hours to unblock drains and clear the a big flood on A7, down below.
