A local group, under the auspices of The Langholm Alliance, is currently exploring the possibility of opening a Heritage and Genealogy
centre in a vacant site in the centre of Langholm.
They feel that with the abundance of history that Langholm and Eskdale have, such a centre could prove to be a valuable resource which would attract more visitors to the area and so increase the footfall in local shops, cafes, hotels and the local arts venue.
They also feel that with the potential opening of a 150-chalet holiday village three miles south of Langholm and a 700-chalet holiday park north of Hawick, there has never been a stronger need to promote the rich history and heritage of Langholm and the surrounding valleys.
To gauge local feeling the group has produced a short questionnaire which can easily be completed within a few minutes.
Copies of the questionnaire are available at First Bite, The Buccleuch Centre or The Alliance Office in Langholm Town Hall and can be returned to these venues once completed.
