Daniel Lacey: A Guilded Craftsman

Daniel’s ‘Sunburst’ table and six chairs won the 500th Bespoke Guild Mark by the Furnituremakers’ Company

Prestigious recognition for Langholm artisan from City of London livery company

Furniture designer-maker Daniel Lacey has been awarded the 500th Bespoke Guild Mark by The Furniture Makers’ Company for his exceptional ‘Sunburst’ Table and Chairs, marking a significant milestone in fine craftsmanship. The award, given in December 2024, recognizes excellence in design, materials, craftsmanship, and function for exquisite furniture pieces.

The ‘Sunburst’ Table and Chairs began with a concise customer brief and evolved into a striking pedestal-like table inspired by Lacey’s ‘Blagr’ chair design. Made from locally sourced white ash, the table features a top with 12 veneer panels, alternating between the end grain from through-tenoned legs or ribs, ensuring a dynamic and organic aesthetic while maintaining structural integrity.
