Young and old gather in Langholm and Gilnockie to celebrate the birth of Scotland’s Bard
The Community Burns Supper held in the Buccleuch Centre last Saturday, was a resounding success. The event was due to be held on Friday, 24th January but the previous day, staff regrettably announced that it would have to be postponed because of Storm Éowyn.
Many of the traditions of Burns Suppers were performed on Saturday by youngsters starting off with the haggis being piped in by Mark Goodfellow, carried aloft by Freya Blaikie and Niamh Graham brought up the rear with the Irn Bru.
Chairman William N. Price welcomed everyone to the Buccleuch Centre and Donna Hislop said the Selkirk Grace. A confident Cameron Gray addressed the haggis and the traditional supper of haggis, neeps and tatties, followed by cheese and biscuits, was served by smiling young people dressed in black with tartan sashes.
