Stevenson Trust progresses discussions with retail company on use of the land
Langholm, Ewes and Westerkirk Community Council recently posted an update on social media about the ‘hole in the ground’ vacant site at Townfoot. The E&L put some questions to Mr David Stevenson of the Stevenson Trust which owns that piece of land.
The E&L asked “I understand that there is some update regarding the ‘hole in the ground’ at Townfoot which is owned by the Stevenson Trust. Can you tell me what is happening? Why did the Stevenson Trust buy it in the first place?” and this was the response: Within our charity, we undertake community developments whereby we acquire old buildings which are becoming a bit of an eyesore, refurbish them and then try to find a use for them. For the past 10+ years there’s been an ongoing programme with the dozen or so high street shops we own and the Townfoot site is another.
