Potential purchase of historical inn presented to local residents
Canonbie Community Enterprise held a meeting in the public hall on Tuesday night to give an update about the post office and present to people the possibility of purchasing the Cross Keys hotel. It’s estimated that almost seventy members of the public attended to hear the presentations from members of the Enterprise group.
There is no progress with the proposed takeover of the post office by the group and accounts are still awaited from Mr Scott. This has been the case for some time and was reported in the paper on 7th November. More than a year on from when the first meeting was held at the behest of the vendor, Canonbie Community Enterprise still await trading figures.
Grants have been secured by the group but will not be paid until agreement on the post office transfer is in place. Post Office, the company are willing for the group to take it on.
