Tranent succumbs to LRFC in impressive away win
Langholm RFC travelled to Tranent on Saturday to open their East League 1 account against Ross High RFC.
With 3 friendly matches already under their belts, Langholm were keen to build on their successful pre-season form.
The match kicked off in damp and blustery conditions with the visitors taking the initiative from the start and putting together some good moves to pressure the home side. However, it was Ross High that were first on the scoreboard with a converted try after 15 minutes. Langholm continued to pile on the pressure and were awarded a penalty which Bailey Donaldson successfully kicked. Further pressure saw the ball fed out to Callum Henderson who crashed through the defence to score a good try which Bailey converted. Langholm came close to scoring in the last few minutes of the first half but could not make the breakthrough. Half time score Ross High 7 Langholm 10.
