AND gets man of the match too! Emerging rugby legend.
Langholm RFC took on Ross High RFC at a cold and very windy Milntown on Saturday. Despite the overnight heavy rain, the pitch was playable but soft. The grandstand was filled to capacity as the Milntown faithful took shelter from the elements. The match was notable for the 350th appearance of Steven Nicol, who has been a great servant of the club over many years and is still at the top of his game.
In the first half Langholm were playing with the wind and tried hard to use this advantage from the start and put pressure on the visitors. With 16 minutes played, Ben Jardine went in for a good try which Bailey Donaldson converted. Ross High was struggling against the wind and despite winning some penalties chose to run them rather than kick. On 30 minutes Donaldson scored and made the conversion to make it 14, – 0. A quick penalty by the visitors resulted in an unconverted try.
