Marvellous weather fetches a huge crowd of rugby enthusiasts to Milntown
Langholm Sevens was blessed with great weather on Saturday and the large crowd of spectators enjoyed the warm sunshine for the whole afternoon and into the evening. Twelve teams were competing for the Scott Cup and the dry conditions made for some exciting ties and good rugby on show. There were a number of closely fought ties in the pool stages, with the first tie of the afternoon between favourites Melrose and Hawick being a 19 all draw.
Langholm’s first outing in Pool D was against Watsonians and it was an exciting tie with Watsonians taking an early 14 -0 lead before Langholm battled back to even the scores 21 all. 2 quick tries from the Edinburgh team won the game by 31-21. On their second Pool D tie against a fresh Selkirk squad, the hot afternoon conditions took their toll on the Milntown men and they went down 52-0 against the eventual finalists.
