Bike Seven celebrates 15 years in business

Bike business with strong Langholm following celebrates 15th anniversary

Bike Seven the bike shop opened its doors ten years ago, in 2009, in the Sandilands industrial estate in Longtown. The bike shop, which is very much a community shop, is celebrating its tenth birthday in September. In the last ten years it has provided training for apprentices, work placements for young people, supported and encouraged cycling on both sides of the border, seen cycling fashions change and grown the business year on year.

Daan van Belzen who started Bike Seven, was originally involved in youth work in Carlisle and Longtown before deciding to support young people by opening a cycle company. Hailing from the Netherlands where he grew up using bikes as a regular means of transport, Daan had planned originally to open the business along with a partner. However, his partner pulled out during the start-up days but Daan carried on and has seen his Longtown base develop and grow during the last decade
