Oxygen Conservation’s plans at odds with Trust

Conservationists have hit out at plans for a 130MW windfarm on the former Hartsgarth farmland land near Newcastleton.

Landowners Oxygen Conservation say they want to save the planet and are focussing on protecting native habitats and removing incorrect land management practices. But the Wild Goat Conservation Trust say they are shooting an ancient herd of wild goats that form a rare and genetically distinct population.

“Is this really saving the planet or is it generating huge profits from the taxpayer and electricity consumers?” A spokesman said.
