D&G’s design has long been a controversial Muckle Toon topic
After asking about the Kilngreen bandstand a couple of weeks ago we’ve received the following comments:
- We’ve received a suggestion for the band stand on the Kilngreen from a ‘James’ who otherwise wishes to remain nameless. He has suggested repairing the roof of the bandstand and inside creating a cylindrical stand with an elliptical roof. This would point the way and distance from Langholm to various cities of the world such as Paris, Berlin or Copenhagen as well as John O’Groats and Cape Canaveral. The motto at the top would say ‘Welcome to Langholm’ and at the bottom ‘The World’s your oyster catcher’ with an illustration of an oystercatcher at the bottom. He thinks that the E&L could invite our readership to suggest the place names that could be included on it. This would certainly create a new landmark in Langholm and for those cyclists who are on the Coast-to-Coast route could feature in their photos and social media. A new ‘Instagram-able’ spot as folk say. We’re still looking for other suggestions so keep them coming in.
