Following our brief report that Loreburn Housing Association was putting the land at Murtholm up for sale (E&L 11/12/2025), we were asked a number of times if that land would be sold solely for housing as it was originally intended.
We passed the question on to Councillor Male and he in turn posed it to Loreburn CEO, Kirsteen McGinn. Cllr Male received a reply this week:
“Thank you for your response. I can confirm that the site will indeed be sold for residential development. While the planning for the site has lapsed, we will wait to see how things progress. Additionally, we are selling a very small part of the site separately which could potentially be used for agricultural purposes.
There will doubtless be further questions regarding the future of the Murtholm development, but the E&L will keep an eye on things and report back to its readers with any future developments.
