The Meconopsis Group impresses the judges with their display at ‘the greatest flower show on earth’
The RHS Chelsea Flower Show, often hailed as the greatest flower show on earth, was the only RHS show that I had never exhibited at so when it was suggested that The Meconopsis Group stage a display of Himalayan Poppies there I instantly yes. It was only later, as preparations began, that I remembered the hours of work, the stress and worry of would the plants be flowering in time, the doubt creeping in of could we really fit all of that stuff into that van, the endless health and safety forms to fill in and numerous other things to be done when there just weren’t enough hours in the day. At least this time we had a small team, comprising members of The Meconopsis Group and their long-suffering spouses, to plan the display plus a small army of volunteers to staff it at Chelsea.
