Margaret Walty has opened her Autumn exhibition “Here be Dragons” at the Welcome to Langholm Hub. Running until Monday 5th October from 10am until 1.30pm, only three visitors at a time are allowed in to view the exhibition due to social distancing regulations.
‘The dragon paintings on show stem from her love of plants, and from her interest in the dragons she has observed in the area over the years, in her garden and elsewhere. She hopes eventually to bring out a book on them, to be titled ‘Common or Garden Dragons’.
The inspiration for all her paintings is the world of nature and wildlife, in particular around her home in Langholm, especially trees and the riverbank, and in her garden.’
Seaweed, one of two paintings by Margaret Walty (the other was Lichens, painted from local specimens) chosen to illustrate the book Scottish Plant Lore by Gregory J. Kenicer, published by the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh in 2018, and by Birlinn in 2020.
Note: The welcome to Langholm Hub is adhering to rules and regulations around social distancing and you are required to wear a mask when entering the building.
