Proposals put forward further to a request from residents and Councillor Male
Langholm Ewes and Westerkirk Community Council has received the following notification from Dumfries and Galloway Council’s roads department:
Further to a request from a local Councillor and local residents in Langholm, to address road safety and operational vehicle flow issues along these roads, the Local Roads Authority are proposing a one-way system along Elizabeth Street and Caroline Street.
There will one-way signs at the Thomas Telford Road/ Elizabeth Street junction and No Entry signs at the Caroline Street/ Henry Street junction. There will be a ‘no left turn’ and directional arrow at the east end of William Street.
They say that one-way streets can offer several advantages, especially in urban planning and traffic management.
Here are some key benefits:
- Improved Traffic Flow: Vehicles move in a single direction, reducing conflicts at junctions and allowing for smoother, more predictable traffic patterns.
- Increased Road Capacity: Without opposing traffic, better use can be made of the available road space.
