King and Queen were ‘blown away’ by the Muckle Toon’s appearance
David J. McVittie reports, in words and photos, on the band’s weekend on Royal Deeside
The good people of the Scottish Highlands had their gasts well and truly flabbered last weekend when they were treated to the musical genius of the Langholm Pipe Band. Under the inspired leadership of Pipe Major Ricky Henderson and Drum Sergeant Reeve Telford, the band was once again representing the Muckle Toon up at the world famous Braemar Highland Gathering.
The King (the real yin, no the owner of Loon Chen) was in residence at Balmoral with Queen Camilla, and they graced the games with their presence, timing their one hour visit to coincide with Langholm Pipe Bands performance, something both he and Camilla demanded once they heard Langholm were coming. The band played a number of times throughout the day, and your wide reader base will be gratified to learn that they were, quite simply, outstanding; a real credit to themselves and the toon in both the way they played and the way in which they conducted themselves.
