As we move through another season in the life of our parish, I am continually reminded of the quiet strength that lives within our communities.
Across our villages and countryside, people look out for one another in ways that often go unnoticed — a lift offered, a message checked in on, a pot of soup left at the door, a word of encouragement shared at just the right moment. These are small acts, perhaps, but they are the things that hold a community together.
Church, at its heart, is not just a building or a Sunday service. It is about people — about belonging, care, and hope lived out in everyday life. It is about walking alongside one another through celebrations and sorrow, milestones and ordinary days.
As we approach times of gathering — whether for worship, remembrance, music, or community events — my hope is that the church continues to be a place of welcome for all. You do not need to have all the answers, or even many questions, to step inside. Sometimes simply showing up is enough.
The Christmas story reminds us that God chose to come into the world quietly, among ordinary people, in an ordinary place. That same message still speaks today: that every life matters, that kindness counts, and that light is strongest when it is shared.
My prayer for our parish is that we continue to be places of warmth and connection — where tradition is honoured, where change is faced with honesty, and where no one feels forgotten.
Thank you to all who give their time, energy, and care to sustain community life — in the church, in local groups, and in countless unseen ways. What you do matters more than you know.
May the days ahead bring peace, resilience, and hope to us all. As we wait for Christ to come into our communities once more this Christmas time.
With every blessing,
Your Minister
Rev Morag Crossan.
