This year’s Borderway Agri Expo features two seminars focusing on vital issues of concern to the livestock and wider farming industry.
The morning event focuses on the future of farming and food production, taking an in-depth look at the positive strides farming needs to take towards a more sustainable future.
It will be chaired by H&H Land & Estate’s Chartered Surveyor & Environment Advisor, Nick Mullins and the panel of speakers will include Jim Shanks from Standhill Farm in the Borders. He has turned his glasshouse tomato growing enterprise into one of the most sustainable models of food production to be found anywhere in the world with a range of methods including Anaerobic Digestion and Biomass systems, Tom Hargreaves, Fresh Produce Buyer at the Cumbrian-based supermarket chain Booths, will explain consumer preferences for high quality, local meat, and the growing focus on health, taste and ethical concerns, and Colin Bateman, Beef and Lamb Sector Chair at AHDB and a Main Board Non-Executive Director, will offer his insights into current market trends.
