GILLY FRASER reports as the Swan family reopen The Grapes
The doors of the Grapes Hotel in Newcastleton are about to reopen as it begins a whole new lease of life after being closed for more than ten months.
New owners brother and sister Steven and Sharn Swan took the popular hotel over several weeks ago and managed to
satisfy public demand by opening temporarily during the
Copshaw Common Riding and Music Festival weekend. Then the shutters came down again to allow work to begin on a pretty major programme of renovation and redecoration.
“To be fair there was absolutely nothing wrong with the place,” Steve says. “To us coming in, it was well kept and maintained so we could have just started trading straight off. But we wanted to put some work in to giving it a real ‘WOW’ factor.”
