Sunny Day brings the crowds to Milntown
Langholm Rugby Club hosted the annual Langholm Sevens at Milntown on Saturday in near perfect weather conditions.
The tournament, sponsored once again by James Jones and Sons Ltd drew a large crowd who were entertained by some well contested ties and some great sevens rugby. The first tie saw Gala despatch Peebles by 33 points to 5. Kelso and Selkirk then battled it out in a nip and tuck tie that eventually saw Kelso narrowly win and Jedforest narrowly beat Heriots.
The home side took on Melrose and despite the visitors taking the lead, Langholm fought back to make the half time score 14 -12 to Melrose. In the second half it was Melrose who scores first but a great run by Jamie Gormley almost saw him in at the corner. Melrose hit back with 2 tries to put the tie beyond the Milntown men but they stuck in well and should be proud of their performance. Watsonians were beaten by both Kelso and Selkirk and Edinburgh Accies were no match for Jedforest and went down 36 -0 against Heriots.
