Potential risks of cycling on an E-bike down the A7 to join another hub at Gretna leaves us wondering
The proposal to create a transport hub at the Kilngreen by Dumfries and Galloway Council was discussed at the Annandale and Eskdale Area Committee last Tuesday. No representations from the public had been made during the eight-week consultation process. The Committee therefore agreed to the change of use of areas of this common good land. A multi modal transport hub will be created and is likely to include secure locker facilities, EV car and bike charging points, cycle parking and car hire facilities. We do question if these will be used? The Committee report says that the aim is to promote active travel, reduce congestion and pollution and to benefit businesses by people stopping to shop.
According to the report the common good land is owned by the Council in that it holds legal title to it. However, what the Council can do with the land is subject to a system of statutory control.
