Local schools perform with Scottish Opera

Pupils from Newcastleton, Langholm and Canonbie Primary Schools got together this week to put on an amazing new interpretation of the classic Burns poem Tam O’Shanter – with a wee bit of help from Scottish Opera.

After just one hour and forty-five minutes of rehearsals, the P6/7’s put on their show for the rest of the school and then the grown-ups were also treated to a special performance.

The show was made possible by Scottish Opera’s Primary Schools Tour which this year is heading to 120 schools all over the country and even dipping over the border to bring a bit of Burns culture to Newcastle.
