LANGHOLM Legion will celebrate their 25th year this season.
The club has historically yo-yoed between the top division (A) and the middle division (B), with three Division B titles and two cup final victories.
They won the Border Cup in 1996/97 and, most recently, the Walls Cup in 2017/18.
Barry Henderson, manager, said: “Our season starts this Saturday with Legion in Division A after a good previous season finishing fourth.
“First up is a Border Cup fixture when we host Division B champions and current holders of the Walls and Waddell cups, Langlee Amatuers of Galashiels in what will be a stern challenge.
“Pre-season is always difficult for the club because it clashes with the Common Riding activities.
After playing five friendlies, losing three and winning two, the most important thing was gaining match fitness and togetherness and there was a big improvement in last weekend’s victory away to Palmerston Colts of Dumfries.
After last season’s solid campaign, the plan will be to match or better this achievement but in a highly competitive league the first target will be to maintain top flight football for their 26th season.
The club has entered the South Cup with the hope of playing different opponents from other leagues and prolonging the season.
The club would like to wish fellow local side CFC Bowholm all the very best in their return BAFL league in Division C.
