LANGHOLM Youth Rugby kick-starts its season next
Tuesday.
The fun-filled training sessions will be held on the fantastic Langholm Academy 3G pitch and the club would like to invite new and current members to go along and join them for an action-packed season.
P1 to P7 run from 6.30pm to 7.30pm and they’re followed by the Academy age groups from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.
All coaches are fully Disclosure Scotland checked and, as a minimum qualification, are SRU Rugby Ready qualified, although most are UKCC Level 1 Coaching Children. Some are at the more advanced qualification of UKCC Level 2.
This season the Youth Section is already organised to take two busloads to the Scotland v
Georgia summer test at BT
Murrayfield on Friday, September 6, while the annual trip to Kingston Park, home of Newcastle Falcons, will be on Friday, January 10 against Doncaster Knights who have Langholm’s own Robin “Bomber” Hislop in their line-up.
The Youth Section have been invited to provide the mascots for the day. More details to follow.
With the Youth Section being part of the Falcons Community Programme and based on the success of the previous two
Newcastle Falcons summer camps, next season’s dates have been confirmed as Tuesday and Wednesday, July 28 and 29.
As part of a new initiative, Langholm Youth Rugby and the Langholm & Canonbie Cluster have entered an exciting joint venture of providing rugby during the curriculum at both Langholm and Canonbie primary schools and Langholm Academy.
These sessions, starting on Monday, August 26, will be supervised by rugby development officer Davie Oliver and will include strength and condition classes at 7.30am and an after-school club for girls on
Mondays. Lunchtime clubs will be available and the Tots will continue to have their own sessions on Friday afternoons.
