At least the Common Riding route is more or less free of potholes…for now!
Workmen from the Dumfries and Galloway Roads Department have been round the route of the Common Riding procession to fill-in any potholes and crumbling bits of tarmac to ensure safe-passage for those enjoying the historic event.
The wall on Drove Road which collapsed into the grounds of Greenbank last December caused a problem for the authorities to find the owner of the wall and who was subsequently responsible for its repair.
Councillor Male has informed the E&L recently that the wall is believed to be the property of the Church of Scotland. They have been informed about the
situation and the Council is awaiting a response.
Councillor Male said “ I’d like to say thank you to the Council staff who have worked late into the evening to get the problems fixed. There are still several areas in the town needing work and I have asked for a schedule of repairs.”
