BAILEY Donaldson of Langholm played for Hawick Force last weekend and helped them win against Stewarts Mellville with the final score at 27-19.
This was their third league win in a row and sets them up well for their next league game against a strong Biggar outfit.
The game will be at Mansfield Haugh on October 19.
Malcolm Grant, a keen follower of the team, said: “Particularly encouraging has been the set-piece play and defence shown by the Hawick lads.
“This was epitomised at the end of the first half when Stewarts Melville had a scrum in front of the Force posts.
“The Force took against the head with a fantastic drive and clearances.”
Bailey scored an excellent try in the second half, breaking the line form a distance. He also line kicked well. This win for the Force moves them up into fourth place in the league with a game in hand over the three teams above them and a week off gives them a well-deserved rest.
Malcolm said: “It was great to see the smiles on the faces of this young squad after
the game, having run in four fine tries to pick up the bonus point win.”
