Rugby
IN THEIR final pre-season games Hawick and Hawick Force travelled to Carlisle where they played a double header against Carlisle 1sts and Carlisle Crusaders.
Although listed as friendlies, these games were a real test for the young Hawick squads, who were missing a few players, and Carlisle provided tough opposition for both teams.
In the team were Bailey Donaldson of Langholm and Thomas Hope of Canonbie.
Starting in the No10 jersey for Hawick Force, Donaldson renewed his partnership with a number of Hawick U18 graduates and this showed with the way he linked with Billy McNeil and Mully Bannerman to create opportunities for the Hawick side.
After a full half of rugby, Donaldson was called up to the Hawick senior side, with McNeil and Bannerman and they acquitted them
selves well in what was a big step up in physicality.
Carlisle 1sts had just a little too much for Hawick, coming out 40-24 winners.
Hawick Force, down to 13 players by the end of their game against the Crusaders, showed great character and desire to hold on for a hard-earned win 24-28 win.
