Burgh-by-Sands Easter extravaganza

Hounds

It was an early Easter Eggstravaganza at Burgh by Sands where the Juniors enjoyed an Easter Egg hunt and colouring competition while there was extra prize money and rosettes for the winning hounds.   There were six hounds slipped in the Seniors and Delta Scope having scored his first win of the season on Wednesday did not disappoint favourite backers as he led them up the marsh.  There were a few scales up at the top end before they turned from home but Scope stuck to his task and appeared back into view with a big lead.  He finished well in front of the second hound Fire lass with Delta Supreme the only other finisher taking third.  A kennel double was on the cards as the only two entries in the Maidens were also from the Sarah Harper Hartley Robinson kennel.   True to form Delta Style was the easy winner with Delta Spiral not managing to get round.  Seven entries were slipped in the Pup trail and were all closely bunched up the front of the Marsh.  There were again some scales at the top end with Border Reign taking the lead most of the time.  When they appeared on the finish there were still a few hounds in with chances.  Tallulah and Border Reign had about ten yards lead on Inspect who had run slightly wide but soon righted himself and stepped up a gear to fly past the other two for his second win of the week.  Tallulah again was second with Border Reign third and Delta Swift fourth.  Black Thorn ran on well for fifth and Fire Bond was sixth.  Final race of the day was the Veterans with only two entries.  Castle Clansman had opened up a big lead half way up the shore but Frankel was closing and by the time they were at the top turn both hounds were together.  Same was the order as they came on to the finish and as handlers started calling them home Frankel soon sprinted home to win easily with Clansman in second.
