Bowlers on the carpet for a busy weekend

Carpet Bowling

By Luke Tolson

ON SATURDAY, Langholm carpet bowlers held their annual triples tournament for the J&S Hotson cup, sponsored by Kevan Hotson.

There was a good entry of 32 and the cup was highly contested for.

The winners were – Jan Oliver, Gina Laurie and Lee Beauly from Dumfries, who beat Graham

Campbell, Les Adamson and Wullie Mair from Kirkton in the final.

Beaten semi-finalists were – Kevin Jack, Andy Graham and Mick Currie from Moffat, and David and Rachael Orchiston and Declan Donaldson of Tarbolton.

Thanks go to Kacey and Zara who did an excellent job of selling raffle tickets, the tournament organisers, bar staff, The Goodfellow’s for catering, board layers and folk who travelled to the tournament and of course Kevan Hotson our sponsor. Without these people we can’t have tournaments like these!

And on Saturday night, Langholm carpet bowling club held a junior singles competition. The tournament was well attended with 28 entries from a variety of young lads and lassies who are keen to bowl.

The winner was Matt Hall who beat Ryan Wood in the final.

The beaten semi-finalists were Kerr Gordon and Layton Foster.

Thanks go to the sponsors Ian, Paul, Neil, Wull, Jim and Roy.

On Thursday night Langholm social club bowlers hosted a friendly against the Benty.

It was a close match and scores were 58-42 to the home side.

Thanks to Tracey Goodfellow for providing a supper and members look forward to traveling to the Benty Hall in the new year.
