TEENAGE runner Conan Harper won a team gold medal at a major cross country event last weekend.
Conan Harper, 14, of Langholm was selected to run for the East Districts under 15 team at the Inter Districts cross country championships at King’s Park in Stirling.
The day, which combined this year’s British Cross Challenge event, was run in very difficult, wet and windy conditions and it was very muddy underfoot.
The East team consisted of 15 athletes and the top six finishers from each team scored points for their own team.
Conan ran a fantastic race over the 4k cross-country course to finish ninth overall and one of his team’s top six finishers, earning him a gold medal as part of the team.
To add to his day, he finished an exceptional 15th place out of 76 in the British Cross Challenge event.
