Temporary facility will open in Holmspun with better hours of business than the outgoing bank
Last September we asked in the E&L if a banking hub could be the answer for Langholm following a visit to one in Kirkcudbright and in light of the announcement that the Bank of Scotland on the high street here was to close. This week we heard that we are getting a temporary cash hub in Langholm which will be located in Holmspun.
A flurry of activity opposite the E&L office last week led us to speculate that the previously mentioned temporary banking hub was about to open there and this week this has been confirmed. Cash Access UK which is setting up the Hub is a not for profit organisation but the Hub will be operated by the Scotby post office team under Darren McDonagh.
The Cash Hub is only a temporary solution while the new post office prepares to open on Langholm High Street. The Hub won’t have an ATM but people will be able to deposit and withdraw cash using their bank card. If businesses have registered with their banks and have a ‘change giving card’ they will be able to get change for their business.
