NEWCASTLETON Bowling Club held its first open tournament of the year, the American triples, last Sunday.
There was a modest entry of 16 but a good day was had and the sun shone all day.
The winners were from the home side and were Robert and Drew Rutherford and Danny Hetherington.
They beat the Gretna entry of Robin Nichol, John Armstrong and Ronnie McMath.
Paul and Carolle Warwick and Mackie Johnstone of Langholm New Town were knocked out at the semi-final stage by the winners.
Robert Robson (The Brig) from the home club played with Alistair Service and John Quinn of Annan. They were also beaten at this stage by the runners-up.
Thanks go to Copshaw Kitchen for their generous sponsorship of the tournament.
