MAIRI TELFORD JAMMEH reports on Langholm’s Rural Highlight in an 8-Page Supplement in this week’s E&L
The 172nd Langholm Show was held on the Castleholm on what was a good Autumn day. It was dry with an odd light shower and the ground was on the whole firm for walking. Well-advertised by young Penni Cubbon’s winning poster, the show offered a wide range of competitions, displays and activities for the public to enjoy.
The usual range of sheep, cattle and horse competitions were held along with categories for dogs, pets, ponies and in hand horses. In particular there was a good number of entries in the sheep classes which included a young handlers’ class.
The industrial tent was full of a wide range of entries ranging from flowers, baking, walking sticks and crafts to floral art and classes for the women’s institutes. The quality of entries was high which must have made judging difficult. The photography was excellent. Some people work very hard to get entries in over a wide range of classes.
