Polaris’ Puppy Produce Trail

Hounds

Saturday at Walton was the first of the Puppy Produce Trails and this week it was for pups bred outside the Border Area. There were only three contenders in the race and short favourite Polaris owned by Podge & Gillian McGimpsey duly obliged when winning nicely. Their other hound co-owned by Toto Paterson followed the leader home for second with Bobby Moon owned by Tracey and Derek Hill not far behind in third.
In the second pup race on Saturday we saw Jazzle, who won midweek, appear with about ten yards’ lead on Eagle Star. She looked a comfortable winner but Eagle Star had different ideas and chased her down to get past to win just on the line. This was her first win and surely not the last.
The Senior Hounds was business as usual on Saturday when Tynemouth won by a distance with Delta Script, Frankel and Tommy Moon all having a good race for the other places.
Tommy Moon also had his first Championship win of the season at Steel Rigg on Wednesday when he led home his kennelmate Buster Moon who was second.
In the Senior Maidens this week we have had two different winners. Wednesday Eagle Dude finished nicely to beat Bella Moon with Eagle Hope passing Castle Clansman on the finish for third.
Saturday’s race was won by Delta Shimmer who showed her liking for Walton when she strode home to just beat Bella Moon who again had to settle for second.
There have been two Veteran trails this week with a fantastic race on Wednesday night between Tyler Moon and Castle Caledonia where the pair went head to head the whole trail and Tyler Moon just edged it on the line to win.
On Saturday Castle Caledonia won a bit more comfortably from Eagle Priya and Border Jasmine.
