Bowling
LANGHOLM Old Town Bowling Club attracted 16 pairs for the Jim Irving pairs’ cup last Saturday.
After three matches, playing eight ends a match, the semi-finalists, all New Town, were Carolle and Paul Warwick against Sue Roebuck and Luke Tolson.
By winning 8-5 Sue and Luke denied Carolle and Paul the honour of winning the cup for the third year.
In the other semi-final Scott Morrison and Lauren Scott of Newcastleton prevailed over George Graham and Henry Bell by 8-6.
The final was closer than the 8-3 score suggests but, once Scott and Lauren took the lead, Sue and Luke were always playing catch-up.
Kevin Irving, vice-president, presented the cup to Scott and Lauren and thanked everyone, including sponsor Robert Phillips, for an enjoyable day.
