An update from the A7 Action Group’s meeting
The A7 Action Group met on 20th September and has provided the following update to the E&L Advertiser:
The work to erect safety fencing to the north of Langholm is now complete.
New hazard and verge markers and bend signage is being installed throughout the whole route. New sign works is still ongoing.
At Langholm, work has taken place to update road markings allowing redundant signs to be removed. Three more signs are to be removed but requires
Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN) to disconnect power for these.
To the north of Langholm above the High Mill Bridge, embankment failure will be monitored. BEAR and SEPA have concluded their discussions, and work will be carried out later this year. This will also include installation of a new safety barrier. BEAR is aware that there is a milestone at this section and propose to place it on a plinth behind the safety barrier.
