E&L interviews housing association chief executive Kirsteen McGinn
The E&L intends to keep asking questions and reporting back on issues that are of concern to the community. These include the Erskine Church, Warbla afforestation, flooding, gravel, and riverbanks and of course, the Loreburn development at Murtholm which has prompted many questions from our readers in recent weeks.
To that end, a meeting was organised with the CEO of Loreburn and the E&L, last week, to try to get to the bottom of the issues associated with the ‘indefinite delay’ to the Murtholm housing development.
Kirsteen McGinn, CEO, spoke of Loreburn’s disappointment that this flagship project has had to be delayed, along with another development in Moffat and one in
Dumfries and that she is fully aware of the concerns of the people of the town at yet another set-back. She reiterated that these projects remain the priority for the company, and they WILL be resumed as and when the situation is resolved.
Ms McGinn went on to say that the main hurdle Loreburn faces is that of the increased costs of borrowing due to the recent increases in interest rates.
