LAODS pulls off another cracker for their latest ‘mesmerising’ musical
The chum who came with me to see the opening night of Oklahoma summed it up best.
“It was,” she said, “mesmerising.”
The cast all deserve bouquets, but first of all huge praise must go to Nicole Weatherstone. She is a LAODS stalwart and has trod the Buccleuch Centre boards in many a production, but this was her first venture as Producer/Director and the sheer size of the cast alone meant it can’t have been an easy ticket.
It’s hard to imagine how many times it must have been performed since it was first created back in the 1940’s by the then brand new partnership of Rodgers and Hammerstein. It’s not even the first time LAODS have brought it to the stage, but Nicole, along with Musical Director Anne Halliday, Accompanist Henry Jeffrey and the rest of the team, made it entirely their own, giving us a version that was fresh, sassy and totally original.
Tickets still available from the BOX OFFICE on 013873 81196 or online at www.buccleuchcentre.com
