Langholm, Ewes and Westerkirk community council is working with Langholm social club to commemorate the anniversary Victory in Europe day on 8th May. Langholm social club said:
“To commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE day, and to remember the brave men and women of Langholm who gave their lives during World War 2 (WW2) and the European campaign, there is going to be a small wreath laying service at the war memorial on Thursday 8th May at 6.30pm. There will also be a reading of the names on the Langholm roll of honour for WW2. Anyone wishing to attend are very welcome and any organisation or individual who wish to lay a wreath or wooden cross can do so.

There will also be an afternoon tea event at Langholm social club on Saturday 10th from 12 – 4pm. Tickets are free and you can collect one in advance from the social club or from Creation Mill. The event will include dancing as well as a tombola and a raffle. 1940s attire is optional. The live music will be confirmed later.
