NEWCASTLETON nurse and artist Paula Downey has been elected as this year’s Copshaw Common Riding Tub.
It was Paula’s second time of lying for the village’s most coveted honour and she takes over from last year’s Tub Dave Mitchell.
She was up against three strong opponents in Val Collins, Paddy Laing and Fraser Laing and she says winning this time round is all the more special bcause she also celebrates her 50th birthday this year.
Paula’s Flake will be husband, Adrian, and she’ll be ably supported by her sons Sam and Oli. Paula works at the health centre and is a renowned artist.
She will now be the official face of the CCR at village occasions and functions and will lead the Common Riding on Saturday, July 6 as well as at the ride-out on a date still to be confirmed.
