Flood risk grows as council dithers over protection scheme
There are calls for urgent action to sort out the increasingly chaotic state of the river Esk in Langholm.
Fears have already been raised about a build-up of gravel and weeds on one bank, and as far back as 2007 a strategic flood risk appraisal, carried out by Dumfries and Galloway Council, highlighted Langholm as one of the top five towns in the region at risk of flooding.
