Brewer Stuart defiant as energy hikes threaten beer industry

A Langholm brewery boss has spoken of how the cost-of-living crisis is battering his business.
But Stuart Campbell says he is also confident of surviving the dizzying rise in energy prices.
Stuart opened Borderlands Brewery in April last year – the first in the town for 100 years – having started his
brewing empire in his kitchen.
His beers, including Esk Blonde, Reiver Red and Tarras IPA are now sold as far afield as Carlisle and Dumfries, as well as online, and he is now preparing new premises for a larger brewery to include Langholm’s first taproom.
