TWO Canonbie women will climb Ben Nevis during the night to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Catherine Lithgow and Nicola Donald are doing the walk in memory of Nicola’s granny and others they know with the condition on July 5.
Catherine said: “We’re paying all costs ourselves so every penny raised will go to the charity.
“During the hike there will be many people from all over the UK and we’ll be accompanied by mountain leaders who know the route well. This is a good thing because we got a bit lost in the mist on our practice night walk up to the monument.
We have a Just Giving page under Nicola Donald and are calling ourselves the Guiding Lights because we’re Girlguiding leaders.
The walk will take eight to 10 hours and we’ve been told we’ll have glow sticks attached to us so we can be located at all times going up the mountain in the dark. Hopefully, we’ll see the sunrise on the way down.”
To sponsor them donate to the Just Giving page http://www.justgiving.com/gguiding or contact them personally. They have already had support with a table top sale and are well on the way to their target.
