Eskdalemuir venue unable to function properly without phoneline or broadband
As reported last week,
Eskdalemuir community hub is still without phone lines and internet after BT switched them off almost two weeks ago ready to transfer to a
digital system. Lack of phone and internet continues to impact on the business at the Hub where cash is the only way to pay for goods and services.
David Mundell MP for Dumfriesshire escalated the Hub’s complaint to BT. He highlighted the importance of The Hub to the Eskdalemuir community and visitors, pointing out good communications were especially vital given the remote rural location. He said: “I’ve raised this unacceptable situation with BT and stressed the negative impact, both practical and financial, this extended loss of service is having on this valuable charity-operated facility. The phased transfer from the traditional copper wire network to a combined internet-based digital data and voice communications system has caused apprehension in some parts of my constituency and cases like this do not help.
