A GP in Newcastleton has made it to the finals of a prestigious national competition.
Dr Howard Kennedy, 57, has been named as one of the final four in the Doctor Award category of the 2019 Scottish Health Awards.
He has practised in Newcastleton for 25 years.
The scheme is run by the Daily Record with NHS Scotland and the Scottish government.
It was established to celebrate the work of unsung heroes in the health service, especially those who go the extra mile for the benefit of their patients.
The winners will be announced at a special black-tie ceremony in the Edinburgh Corn Exchange, hosted by Fred MacAulay on Thursday, November 14.
The doctor award is for an individual giving excellent NHS care.
It recognises the high quality NHS care and vital treatment which an individual doctor has given.
The Scottish Health Awards are the most prestigious and recognised awards for those working in NHS Scotland and its partners to deliver high quality health and social care services.
They reflect the amazing diversity of talent and showcase the dedication and commitment of those who work for us.
