FOUR candidates have put forward their names for the 2019 Copshaw Common Riding.
Those lying for Tub are Paddy Laing, Val Collins, Fraser Laing and Paula Downey, who is having a second go.
The public vote is to be held at the Tub’s Ball in the village hall on Saturday, May 11 from 6.02pm.
The ballot is held to decide who will lead the common riders around the Copshaw boundaries on Saturday, July 6.
Copshaw Common Riding is 21 this year and, apart from finally getting the key to the door, there are lots of special events taking place on and around the big day.
These include the infamous Ride Oot Bye, the new ancient tradition of the Sod carrier’s wedding, the New Year’s honours list, at which several organisations will benefit from money raised, and much more.
To fully understand the rituals you need to go and take part and, if you do understand, please let us know.
