THE group working on the transformation of Townfoot sports centre are in talks with Dumfries and
Galloway Council about the planning process.
The group is preparing a pre-application advice submission to the council’s planning authority.
This application does not constitute planning permission but provides constructive advice and an indication of likely acceptability of the proposal when assessed against council planning policy and the likelihood of an application being recommended for approval.
Progress on the project continues and currently the finishing touches are being added to three choices of design layout.
Design consultants Robert Potter & Partners are preparing the cost and energy supply plans for each of the layouts.
Campbell Scott, chairman, said: “By the end of June, we hope to share the three design layout options with the wider community for feedback and comments.
“We’re still considering the best way to promote the design layouts, for example, with a large window display in Welcome to Langholm.
“We’ll also share the options through Facebook and local newspapers.
“After community feedback and comments, we’ll report our conclusions and recommendations to our governance board for their approval before finalising our business plan.”
