Building society seeks to assure customers that it has no plans to follow the course of the other banks in the town
The Cumberland Building Society has underlined its commitment to Langholm as the town’s last remaining bank prepares to close.
Bank of Scotland’s Langholm branch is due to shut in April. That follows the closure of Royal Bank of Scotland’s Langholm branch in 2018.
But the Cumberland has reassured customers it has no plans to follow suit.
Ryan McCubbin, the society’s cluster manager for Scotland, said: “Our branch network is hugely important to us.
“Our purpose is to deliver ‘kinder banking’ that looks after people, the planet and communities and it’s our commitment to the communities we serve that has made the Cumberland successful for almost 175 years.
“We are still investing in branches. Our English Street branch in Carlisle reopened a few weeks ago after a major refurbishment and we have plans to refurbish further branches in the near future.Read much more in this week’s E&L available at your Newsagent or available online by subscription.
