THE Castle Craigs Club held its annual boys’ night in the Crown Hotel last Saturday.
The evening gives the boys a chance to swot up on their knowledge of the Common Riding and learn more about its traditions and what goes on during the fortnight in July.
There was a good turnout of boys and they began with some fortifying food to arm them for the tests ahead.
In attendance was Cornet Iain Little, performing his final duty in the post before this Friday’s election.
He was accompanied by his right and left-hand men Stuart Murray and Simon Tweddle.
The best-dressed boy was Ellis Dirom. The winner of under seven competition to design the best tie was won by Cieran Graham and the under nine winner was Robbie Graham.
The runners-up were Rory Irving, Cody Parker and Jayk Foster.
The quiz for the older boys was won by Tom Henderson and second equal were Callum Scott and Brady Wilson.
The front three led the singing of some Common Riding songs to get everyone into the spirit of the festivities to come this summer.
